Agartala: Meeting Held For Blood Donation Camp Calendar 2024
There is a crisis of blood throughout the year in the blood banks in Tripura. The patient’s family members not getting blood on time.
Therefore, a meeting was held to prepare the calendar of voluntary blood donation camps to maintain the continuity of blood donation camps.
This meeting was held at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala.
The meeting was organized under the initiative of the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
BSF, Police, NSS, and others participated in the meeting.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar, Secretary of the Health Department, Director of the Health Department, Officer in charge of the Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Department, and others were present at the meeting.
Mayor Dipak Majumder said blood donation camps are held to balance the demand and supply of blood. The more blood donation camps can be organized, the more the demand can be met.
He also said that there were very few camps during Durga Puja. It will be helpful if the blood donation calendar is done in advance. So a meeting has been held to prepare the blood donation camp calendar.
After the meeting member, Secretary of Tripura State Blood Transfusion Council Bishwajit Debbarma said, the target has been taken to provide 42000 uni blood in the Blood Banks. The population of the state is 42 lakh. It is necessary to provide 42000 units of blood considering an average of 1% of the total population. But sometimes we need more blood from the above-said ratio. More or less we need 3500 units of blood per month.
” But as there are fewer blood donation camps patent party is not getting blood according to demand. We have decided to encourage youths to blood donation, especially at college and university levels. Two MO from Tripura to take training on this in a camp to be organized in Arunachal on February 1-3 next” he informed.
